Joanne leads BDO's Global Expatriate Services group in the Vancouver office. She has over 10 years of professional experience providing Canadian and U.S. personal income tax planning and compliance for a wide range of corporate and individual clients.
Joanne has provided global mobility tax services to clients in a wide range of industries, including financial services, engineering and construction, retail, and technology and life sciences. She has successfully assisted a number of companies and their employees in managing the complex financial tax and related matters pertaining to the cross-border movement of athletes, consultants, directors, executives, and employees. She has extensive experience in cross-border executive compensation issues and expatriate policy design and implementation.
Joanne is a regular speaker at both internal and external forums on a variety of international tax and expatriate matters, including streamlining global payroll, global mobility strategy, tax considerations of business travel, and equity compensation. She is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant who is also admitted to practice before the United States IRS.
