Software development is not just about technical wizardry. The soft skills matter too! But working with people can be hard.
The DISC Model of Human Behaviour is a tool that can help foster improved personal relationships. With an observant classification of an individual's "natural behaviour" and an understanding of the impact of communication style, we can better relate with each other and gain improvements in activities like teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
Gord Harris will give an introductory presentation on the DISC model, covering:
* a description of the basic concept of the DISC Model
* techniques on how to identify someone's DISC profile
* guidance for improving communication and relationships using DISC
Gord Harris is a professional software developer with 20 years experience in both product development and digital marketing. He currently works for xMatters as a Software Team Lead. Most of his career has been spent coding Java, and he has no regrets about it.
