Job description
Working at the Credit Counselling Society is more than just a job. It's not about maximizing profits and pushing paper, it's about helping people. If juggling multiple demands and priorities makes you feel giddy - in a good way; if the status quo makes you want to nod off; if you're looking to make a real difference in people's lives by helping them to get back on track financially, then the Credit Counselling Society is the right place for you! The Credit Counselling Society is a Certified Great Workplace by the Great Places to Work Institute. In addition to being named as one of Canada's Top Workplaces three times, it has also been recognized as a Best Workplace for Women and Best Workplace for Fairness.
Our IT department is small, but nimble and bold. We move fast, sometimes with the flow, sometimes against it. More often than not we chart our own path. We foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, we dream big, we imagine the future, and then we make it happen; because we can. We might have the size of a small business IT team, but we act like a Fortune 500 IT engine. Most of us wear many hats and our job descriptions don't fall into traditional IT roles, but that's what makes it interesting, challenging, and fun. We all like to test our limits and keep pushing them further and further. Your job too, if you're up for it, will cross the boundaries of a traditional IT role. Right now we're looking for a Junior IT professional to take over our Help Desk and also to provide operational support to the rest of the IT team. This position requires a good theoretical foundation and a "can do" attitude. This is a permanent position within the IT department; however you are expected to work with and provide user support across all departments.
Desired Education and Experience
A bachelor degree in a technical field is required for this position. It goes without saying that in addition to formal education you must possess the technical skills to do the job, including:
• 1 - 2 years of experience preferred (fresh out of school applicants will be considered)
• Desktop operating systems: Windows 7 / 10
• Server operating systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2016, Linux (Ubuntu)
• Active Directory
• Knowledge of computer hardware, network equipment, and network protocols
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language
• Ability to think like a user, anticipate, and address their concerns
• Very strong communication skills
Certifications are a nice touch, but we don't believe that the world revolves around them. A few other qualities we will be looking for:
• Ability and willingness to keep learning
• Relentless desire for betterment
• Entrepreneurial spirit; we'll paint the destination with a broad brush and you'll find a way to get there; support will always be available, but close guidance, hand holding, and traditional supervision / management should not be expected nor required; if you need supervision to get the job done, you are probably not the right fit for this role
If you think you fit the bill, come and join us for a journey like no other!!!
The position is based at our New Westminster head office and reports to the Director of IT. Please submit your resume and cover letter to ITcareers@nomoredebts.org.
