NEW MALL KIOSK ALLOWS FOR CONVENIENT CUSTOMER INTERACTION
Langley, BC, November 27, 1998--A new touch screen kiosk with customized loyalty software was designed by KLN KLEIN Product Development Inc. for Willowbrook, a 170 store shopping centre in Langley, BC. The new kiosk is an expansion to Willowbrook's "Just Rewards" loyalty program, which rewards customers for every dollar spent in the mall with special offers and entries into prize draws.
After running their "Just Rewards" program successfully for over five years and continuously attracting new members, Willowbrook was looking for a tool that would reduce time required by their staff to process membership applications and redemption certificates. "As their loyalty program is based on our product, SHOPTECH, a comprehensive database marketing and shopper loyalty system, they contracted us to custom design the extension to their program," says Peter Klein, President of KLN KLEIN.
In addition to allowing shopping center customers to fill out membership applications, the kiosk interacts with "Just Rewards" members by giving them access to their loyalty point accounts, printing redemption certificates for
special offers, administering requests for entries into selected prize draws and updating members' information, all by simple selections from the touch screen. The kiosk also displays all current offers from participating stores, thus doubling as a cost effective electronic catalogue that mall staff can easily update at any time. Furthermore, it allows Willowbrook to effortlessly integrate frequent electronic draws into their loyalty program, that attract customers to come in on a weekly basis, increasing regular mall traffic without the expense of additional advertising.
In 1994, Willowbrook Shopping Centre received the prestigious MAXI award in
marketing excellence for their "Just Rewards" program from the International Council of Shopping Centers. As Reet Arbo, Willowbrook's "Just Rewards" Administrator points out, "The loyalty database program, which KLN KLEIN designed and installed in 1993, has become the number one marketing tool for
our center." She adds, "When we wanted to have a touch screen automated program, KLN KLEIN took our ideas in every detail and presented us with a user friendly solution that has further enhanced our marketing program."
With the recent introduction of the interactive kiosk, Willowbrook launched a new "Teen Card", broadening the original "Just Rewards" program to also accept teens as members. The response to this move has been enthusiastic and, thanks to the new touch screen kiosk, membership has increased substantially without creating more work for mall staff.
The kiosk's underlying technology can be easily adapted and expanded to support other marketing efforts in the retail industry. For more information contact Peter Klein at (604) 530-1491.
