Vancouver, BC, May 4, 2011--(T-Net)--Simba Technologies Inc., an industry choice for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity, announced today that it has delivered a Simba-built ODBC driver and JDBC driver to RainStor for connecting numerous Business Intelligence and reporting applications - such as SAP BusinessObjects Crystal Reports, IBM Cognos, MicroStrategy, Oracle Hyperion System 9 BI+ and many others - to RainStor's product. Standards-based ODBC and JDBC data access makes it quick and easy for RainStor's partners and customers to use the tool of their choice to respond to audit, business or regulatory inquiries on retained data.

“Simba is a very responsive and easy to work with data connectivity partner,” said Andy Ben-Dyke, CTO of RainStor. “Simba's solution provides us with all the standardized data interfaces, components and functionality we need in a single package with no hidden fees. We also gain the flexibility of easily adding new platforms in future. Simba's ODBC and JDBC drivers deliver high-performance data connectivity from popular applications for our partners and customers to readily access their data.”

RainStor's specialized data repository significantly reduces the total cost of retaining data in the enterprise or the cloud through extreme data reduction, simplified data management and impressive scalability.  Unlike traditional archival technologies that lock away data, RainStor's solution keeps data online, tamper-proof and immutable.

“Simba-built ODBC and JDBC data drivers are high-performance and very scalable, offer broad platform support, and have flexible, transparent licensing,” said Suzanne Hoffman, Vice President of Sales at Simba. “These were absolute requirements from RainStor when we began to develop their custom ODBC driver and JDBC driver using our SimbaEngine SDK product for relational data connectivity. We were very pleased to learn that the ODBC and JDBC drivers that we delivered exceeded expectations on RainStor-performed tests.”

Key requirements for RainStor's data drivers included performance, scalability, Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) support, and broad platform support for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, Linux and UNIX clients and servers - with specific requirements for SPARC and Itanium-based systems.

About SimbaEngine ODBC SDK

SimbaEngine ODBC SDK provides 99% of the code required to build a custom ODBC 3.52 compliant data driver and a JDBC 3.0 compliant data driver, as well as a Microsoft-standard OLE DB data driver and ADO.NET data provider. SimbaEngine ODBC SDK also includes a full SQL engine, if required, for non-SQL data stores. Simba offers all of the components, including the SQL engine, in a single package with one simple fee. The SDK is ideally suited for software vendors, like RainStor, that wish to add standards-based data connectivity to their products, opening up access and analysis of data for their customers through popular BI applications.
