Vancouver, BC, April 12, 2012--(T-Net)--Vista Equity Partners today announced it has completed its acquisition of CDC Software (formerly Pivotal Software) pursuant to the purchase agreement that was announced on March 20, 2012. CDC Software is now a standalone company operating independently of CDC Corporation.

CDC Software (formerly Pivotal Software) was a unit of CDC Corp. which previously acquired Pivotal Software (previously headquartered in Vancouver, BC) but which then later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in fall 2011.

“CDC Software is a great company that, due to its previous ownership structure, had a limited ability to invest in its people, products and services,” said Robert F. Smith, Chairman of the Board of CDC Software and Vista's founder and CEO. “We look forward to applying our proven expertise in growing dynamic, successful technology-based organizations to help the talented employees at CDC Software deliver an enhanced customer experience.”

The company also announced that Monte Ford has been appointed to the newly created position of President of CDC Software reporting to the Board of Directors.

“We are pleased to have an executive with Monte Ford's background leading this company as we enter this new chapter,” said Robert F. Smith. Prior to this appointment, Monte Ford was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at AMR Corporation. In this capacity Ford managed a very complex and diverse IT organization supporting over 80,000 employees and 300,000 passengers daily. Ford also held executive positions in IT at The Associates and Bank of Boston.

“This is an exciting time to be joining a company that is transitioning to be a standalone entity focused solely on delivering the best enterprise software solutions and services to our customers,” said Monte Ford, President of CDC Software. “Moving forward, our strategic priority will be to look at how we build on our current product roadmaps to ensure our customers receive maximum added value from the software and services we deliver.”

Headquartered in Atlanta with offices around the world (including large offices in the Yaletown area of downtown Vancouver, BC), CDC Software serves over 10,000 customers in more than 50 countries. CDC Software is a hybrid enterprise software provider of on-premise and cloud deployments.

CDC Software offers multiple delivery options, including on-premise, hosted, cloud-based Software as a Service (Saas) or blended-hybrid deployments. Solutions include enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing operations management, enterprise manufacturing intelligence, supply chain management (demand management, order management and warehouse and transportation management), global trade management, e-Commerce, human capital management, customer relationship management (CRM), marketing automation, complaint management and aged care solutions.

John Clough, Interim CEO of CDC Software, has been asked by the Board of Directors to continue in that role and assist with the transition over the coming months. “The acquisition by Vista is a great thing for CDC Software, its customers and its people,” said John Clough. “I look forward to working with Monte and the new Board of Directors to ensure a smooth change of ownership.”
