Solegear's Sells Polysole(R) Bioplastic Packaging to Neoperl, An Innovative Water Flow Equipment Manufacturer
Vancouver, BC, June 9, 2015--(T-Net)--Solegear Bioplastic Technologies Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SGB) announced today that it has successfully secured an order for a line of bioplastic packaging for Neoperl's OEM aerator products.
A recognized global innovator in the field of water faucet equipment, Neoperl began using the packaging this year and recently placed a repeat order for a 6 month supply.
Aerators are found in nearly all kitchen and lavatory faucets, and are key components in controlling water flow and efficiency. Recognized for their leadership and innovation, Neoperl was seeking a better plastic package: one that performed better than their current petroleum-based plastic packaging solution, was made from renewable resources, and required less material to make the package.
"Credit goes to the team at Neoperl for their vision and commitment to providing their customers with better performing packaging that is also better for our communities and the planet," said Solegear's CEO Paul Antoniadis. "We are very pleased with the Polysole-based solution that we developed together with ExTech Plastics & TEQ, as it provides Neoperl with a package that requires less energy to be produced, is made using renewable resources, and is made using green chemistry. This is another classic example of sustainable technology providing a win-win-win outcome."
Solegear's Polysole® thermoformable materials are a suite of bioplastic resins that can be processed on conventional thermoforming set-ups. With bio-based content ranging from 85% to 100%, the Polysole® family is designed to be recyclable and compostable, offering more options for end of life disposal. Solegear's focus on green chemistry also means that these materials are more eco-effective, while providing additional performance and efficiency benefits over traditional petroleum-based plastics such as Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
The thermoformed sheet was made by Illinois based ExTech Plastics and the packages were made at TEQ facilities located at Huntley, Illinois-based. "This is an example of how our strategic channel partners come together to deliver on a customer sustainable packing needs," said Paul Antoniadis.
Solegear's Polysole® materials work seamlessly with their existing manufacturing equipment and processes, making it more compelling for more customers to convert existing packaging programs to our bioplastic materials.
