Six SFU Teams Move on to Coast Capital Savings Venture Prize Finals

Vancouver, BC, February 10, 2016--(T-Net)--The fifth annual Coast Capital Savings Venture Prize competition is down to the final six Simon Fraser University student ventures.
This year, the student ventures are competing for more than $50,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.

The winners of the Coast Capital Savings Venture Prize, Idea Prize and in-kind prizes will be announced at the public awards ceremony and reception following the final pitches.
The keynote speaker at the event will be SFU Venture Connection alumni Matias Marquez, who is the founder and chief operating officer of Buyatab Digital Solutions.
Buyatab is an industry-leader in developing fully administered, risk-free digital gift card solutions for mid-to-large food service, retail, travel, hospitality and entertainment brands.
The finalists will deliver their final pitches to a panel of industry professionals on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at SFU's Segal Building (500 Granville Street) in Vancouver.
The Coast Capital Savings Venture Prize competition is held annually by SFU's Venture Connection program and is open to all SFU students and recent alumni innovators. The competition recognizes exemplary SFU student entrepreneurs and their success in growing their companies.

Since 2008, Coast Capital Savings has been supporting the SFU Venture Connection program, which provides support for student ventures from initial idea to business validation. It offers an early-stage business incubator, mentorship, co-op terms, competitions, networking, speaker events, workshops, seminars, and other business resources. More than 3,200 individuals have participated since 2008 in its range of programs, with development services provided to more than 500 student-venture teams.
