Merger and Acquisition (M&A) Deal of the Year: MDA Acquires US-based DigitalGlobe for $3.1 Billion, Creating Industry Leader
Vancouver, BC, January 26, 2018--(T-Net)--2017 was another strong year for overall merger and acquisition activity in the BC technology industry - one of the highest levels of consistent overall M&A activity we've seen in BC.
According to our records, T-Net reported on over 50 significant merger or acquisition deals representing several billion dollars worth of M&A transactions in fiscal 2017 (with some BC tech companies bulking up to acquire other companies, and some local companies being acquired by larger US companies). The top 5 deals alone accounted for $6.08 billion.
Almost a week didn't go by where we didn't report on at least one significant merger or acquisition in the past year it seemed.
A number of BC companies chose not to include the actual dollar amount of their acquisitions in their public announcements (so are not included in these totals), and similar to our earlier report on 2017 financing activity this month, we are sure there are also (many) other BC tech related companies that may have been acquired, or made new acquisitions themselves in 2017 that we are just not aware of.
Below is our "unofficial" list of the top 5 largest merger and acquisition (M&A) deals for BC tech companies that we reported on in 2017.
(if we have missed anyone in this list, please email us at technews@bctechnology.com and we will update)
