Victoria, BC, February 19, 2004--Metamend and NAC Geographic Products (NACGEO) today announced the two companies have reached an agreement to utilize a new Meta Tag for exclusive use within NAC Geographic’s wireless Internet search engine services.
According to the agreement, Metamend will add a new location-based Meta Tag to optimized web pages, for submission to the database of NACGEO’s Mobile Location-Based Services Network. (MLBS.NET)
The new Meta Tag called an “Natural Area Code” or NAC Tag, adds a substantial new layer of search power to web pages. Location as a search variable will enable Internet search engines to produce the most accurate location-based search results in history.
An NAC tag will specify the exact location of a business anywhere in the world to a resolution of 30 meters for an eight character NAC or an astounding one meter resolution for a ten character NAC.
An eight or ten character NAC is also called a Universal Address, because it can uniquely specify every building, house or other fixed object in the world.
NACGEO and Metamend have combined two extremely powerful, independent technologies to open a huge portal into the next generation of search engines and search results. Accurate location-based searching meets relevant keyword matching.
Location-based searches are extremely important on the mobile Internet. When a wireless search engine directs someone to the wrong location, it’s far worse than a traditional search engine giving an erroneous result. When you are at your desk, you only need to back click. In the real world you have wasted time and possibly money, transporting yourself to the wrong location. Relevant and accurate results are more important than ever.
To date, MLBS.NET has depended entirely on data supplied by Microsoft MapPoint Web Services, but the agreement with Metamend permits more precise location specific search results.
NACGEO is a worldwide geo-tech leader with a variety of products and services. One of them is MLBS.NET - A revolution in geolocational search engine technologies. MLBS.NET provides a universal interface for any user around the world to perform an accurate location based search with ease. MLBS.NET presently deploys wireless search services to the subscribers of Airtel, AT&T Wireless, Celcom, M1, Maxis, Motorola, O2, Orange, Telstra, and Vodafone.
