Vancouver, BC, October 2, 2006--(T-Net)--Victoria, BC-based technology company Power Measurement — now part of global power and automation leader Schneider Electric — today announced it has secured $2.5 million in funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada, subject to final contract negotiations, to support the development and demonstration of its enterprise energy management software and hardware platform. Enhancements to the EEM technology will help deliver the intelligence and control needed by commercial and industrial energy consumers to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy-related emissions.

“This funding will help us continue the momentum in developing our EEM solutions,” stated operations director, Jacques Van Campen. “Staying competitive in the face of rising fuel costs and new environmental mandates is a major challenge for most companies. We believe EEM will change the way businesses think about energy and greenhouse gas emissions. It gives managers a unified set of tools to help them understand their usage patterns, attribute costs, reveal opportunities and set strategic goals. The system then helps them track performance and ultimately cut consumption and emissions.”

Comprising a network of advanced energy meters and web-enabled software, the company's PowerLogic-branded EEM solutions will provide accurate, real-time data on the consumption of electricity and all piped utilities (including natural gas) as well as outflow monitoring for SO2, NOx and waste water. Advanced modeling and visualisation tools convert data into actionable information, helping companies manage their green building initiatives and energy efficiency programs, monitor their adherence to ISO 14001 or other sustainability goals, and identify best practices. The information can also be used by energy providers to develop utility load management strategies.

The Power Measurement Victoria, BC location is now one of three Schneider Electric global centres of excellence for power and energy management solutions development.
