Vancouver, BC, September 6, 2007--(T-Net)--Dell Canada and Absolute Software (TSX:ABT) are extending an agreement to provide computer theft recovery services to Canadian customers, building on the success of the program announced February 6, 2007, for Dell customers in the United States.
"Dell was the first PC manufacturer to bundle Computrace(R) LoJack(R) for Laptops with an accidental damage warranty program. The success of this bundle program in the U.S. suggests that an identical offer would be well received by Dell's Canadian customers, who face similar mobile security challenges," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software. "Dell is to be commended for making it easy for Canadian consumers to obtain computer theft protection through the purchase of an accidental damage warranty program."
Beginning the week of September 4th, Home, Home Office and Small Business customers who purchase select Dell(TM) Inspiron(TM) and XPS notebooks, and opt for CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service, will now receive Computrace LoJack for Laptops at no additional charge. This service is available for systems with 1 - 4 year warranties.
"Canadian consumers look to Dell for innovative technology and excellent customer service," said Michael Lombardo, general manager, Consumer Division, Dell Canada. "Bundling accidental damage protection with theft recovery service is a natural fit, and will appeal to customers seeking enhanced security options to protect their investment."
Dell's CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service provides coverage for issues not covered under the standard limited warranty. These include spills, drops and electrical surges. Computrace LoJack for Laptops gives consumers the additional benefits of a recovery service that helps track missing or stolen notebook computers.
Brad King of King Industries Inc., in Toronto, had his Dell XPS notebook computer stolen from his vehicle in April, 2007. "When my laptop computer was stolen from my truck, I never believed I'd see it again, but Computrace LoJack for Laptops helped police recover my laptop in just two weeks. I am impressed - this product really works. As a retailer myself, I have no doubt that Canadian consumers will benefit from Dell bundling Computrace LoJack for Laptops with its Accidental Damage Service."
