Vancouver, BC, April 14, 2008--(T-Net)--QuestAir Technologies (TSX:QAR; AIM:QAR) announced today that testing of the prototype H-6200 hydrogen purifier at an ExxonMobil affiliate refinery in France was successfully completed in March. The H-6200 hydrogen purifier has been operating under test since late October 2007 and has performed well under a range of conditions. The unit has now been placed in commercial use. Coincident with completion of the prototype test, QuestAir and ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company ("EMRE") are progressing marketing efforts to commercially deploy the technology more broadly.
Commenting on the prototype test, Jonathan Wilkinson, President and CEO of QuestAir, stated, "The successful completion of the testing of the H-6200 hydrogen purifier demonstrates the robustness of the rapid cycle technology. We believe that the H-6200 will provide refinery customers with significant benefits compared to conventional pressure swing adsorption, and we will be actively working with EMRE to commercialize this product."
QuestAir has been working with EMRE since 2003 to develop a large capacity rapid cycle pressure swing adsorption system, marketed as the H-6200, for use in oil refineries and petrochemical plants. This product is anticipated to offer advantages relative to other hydrogen recovery options including lower total erected costs, superior recovery performance, and improved operability.
About the QuestAir H-6200
The H-6200 hydrogen purifier incorporates QuestAir's proprietary Rapid-Cycle Pressure Swing Adsorption (RCPSA) technology, which operates at significantly higher cycle speeds than the conventional pressure swing adsorption systems. This results in a direct reduction in the size and cost of the equipment required to purify a given volume of product gas. The H-6200 will be marketed in the oil refining industry as a compact solution for hydrogen recovery, helping refineries address the growing demand for hydrogen.
