Vancouver, BC, July 19, 2010--(T-Net)--Vivonet, a leader in secure web based point of sale software for the North American restaurant industry, today announced a landmark agreement with Sodexo, a world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, to deploy a technology called Halo into the majority of Sodexo's 6,000 North American client sites by 2015.
Vancouver-based Vivonet was the winner in an evaluation process that included all major POS providers. Halo, Vivonet's Software as a Service (“SaaS”) product, is a flexible and affordable solution that is delivered to restaurant and foodservice clients simply and securely over the Internet. Halo enables real-time transaction processing, acquires centralized point of sale, product, pricing and people data and organizes it all to be securely analyzed, reported and shared with partners. In the fast-paced foodservices industry Halo is in stark contrast to traditional POS solutions by its ability to eliminate the need for expensive and complicated site specific equipment and on-site IT support.
“This agreement sets a new benchmark in the retail and restaurant technology sector,” said Ryan Volberg, president and CEO of Vivonet. “Our partnership with Sodexo represents the largest ever Software as a Service point of sale rollout and one of the largest hospitality point of sale rollouts in North America. We believe that a transaction of this scope is a validation of Software as a Service as a legitimate technology solution for clients in the restaurant and foodservice industry who need better data to make better decisions.”
In North America alone, Sodexo serves ten million customers a day in corporate offices, health care facilities, long term care facilities, retirement homes, schools and college campuses as well as government, military, and remote sites. Sodexo employs 120,000 people and operates an estimated 6,000 sites in North America.
Halo will provide Sodexo with point of sale and payment processing capabilities as well as robust web-based enterprise management and reporting delivered via web-browser to Sodexo locations all over the continent. Halo will allow Sodexo to make better and faster product decisions and improve supply chain optimization. Put simply, it will make doing business easier and more efficient. It will be installed in Sodexo's industry-leading dining facilities and in their retail brand locations such as Jazzman's Cafe, Panini's and Sub Connection. Halo will also be installed in the leading national brands operated by Sodexo under license.
“Sodexo will use this new technology to improve the overall experience of our customers and thereby help our clients provide the best possible quality of daily life environment,” said Sodexo President and CEO George Chavel. “Halo will help us meet the challenges of our ever-changing competitive landscape and rapidly evolving customer tastes.”
The implementation of Halo will allow Sodexo to track the movement of a single product across all their brands. Behind the scenes, Vivonet's Item Harmony technology standardizes Sodexo's tens of thousands of product offerings into a single, standardized item file allowing Sodexo to better understand customer demand, manage supply chain and optimize product pricing.
