Vancouver, BC, July 8, 2014--(T-Net)--Distrix (formerly Spark Integration Technologies), a developer of software-defined WAN products enabling simple, secure and resilient networks, announced the latest version of its flagship network-virtualization software.
Distrix 4.1 extends the manageability of remote networks while also improving the programmability of software-defined networking (SDN) environments.
Both SDN and third-party-controller applications are now able to subscribe to Distrix network notifications and dynamically orchestrate changes using the software's RESTFul API. Version 4.1 features the Distrix Tunnel Policy engine that's now open for third-party integration, enabling better management chaining for tunnel services such as traffic firewall/access control lists (ACLs), prioritization and pre-processing.
The Distrix Tunnel Policy's API allows policy rule extensions to include such features as intrusion detection system (IDS) and network-asset-control functions. Additionally, Distrix 4.1 features network security enhancements for Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP)-based certificate validation support before any Distrix gateways or tunnels can be provisioned.
“In our ongoing dialog with networking professionals around the world - from application developers to system architects to chief information officers - the term that arises consistently is agility,” said Steve Mueller, senior product manager at Distrix. “They strive to create on-demand networks and by using the type of software-defined infrastructure that Distrix gateways provide, they benefit from simplicity, responsiveness and scalability, while still assuring security and resilience. The Distrix solution was developed from the ground up to provide such network agility, which we've enhanced significantly with version 4.1.”
Distrix is a software-defined networking (SDN)-based, hardware-independent solution delivering next-generation local- and wide-area-network connectivity for simple, secure and resilient communications in remote and cloud-based applications, while minimizing network infrastructures' capital and operating expenses as they scale and grow. The Distrix solution enables IT and OT professionals to refine, rather than replace, their network infrastructures by delivering on-demand network connectivity necessary for modern networking, including machine-to-machine (m2M) communication and the Internet of Things (IoT). The Distrix solution enables organizations to further extend and scale their existing remote connectivity, and deliver dynamic, real-time, on-demand networks.
