Swiss Giant SGS Gobbles up Sidney, BC-based (100 Employee) EnviroTech Company Axys Analytical Services

Sidney, BC, October 21 2016--(T-Net)--Switzerland-headquartered (and 85,000 employee strong) inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS announced this month the acquisition of Sidney, BC-based AXYS Analytical Services Ltd. (AXYS).
AXYS Analytical Services is a North American leader in ultra trace analysis of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), Contaminants of Emerging Concerns (CECs) and the early development stages of the fast growing metabolomics business.
AXYS holds multiple analysis and matrix accreditations with American (NELAC) and Canadian (CALA) national bodies and is ISO 17025 accredited. It provides analytical testing services to research organizations, regulatory bodies, consultants and industry.
Founded in 1974 and privately owned, it employs around 100 experts and is expected to generate 2016 revenues in excess of CAD 12 million.
Along with AXYS Technologies and Seastar Chemicals, AXYS Analytical Services Ltd. was part of the overall AXYS Group of Companies (also HQ in Sidney, BC).
The AXYS Group was founded in 1974 and is privately held. The three founding members each have graduate degrees in marine analytical chemistry. Their background and interest in marine science is responsible for the direction the AXYS Group has taken.
“This acquisition complements the service offering of our recent Accutest acquisition, as well as enhancing our existing environmental network,” said Frankie Ng, CEO of SGS.
The company will be known as SGS AXYS moving forward. Terms of the acquisition have not been released.
