Vancouver, BC, July 15, 2010--(T-Net)--Star Solutions today introduced its iCell COMPAC IP-RAN basestation products for wireless operators deploying CDMA2000® 1X and EV-DO voice and broadband data services. Designed with low power consumption in mind, iCell COMPAC IP-RAN basestations are self-contained, passively cooled, and can be deployed anywhere additional coverage or capacity is needed.
“These new products enable operators to address two key challenges facing their business: addressing wireless capacity needs due to the explosive growth in mobile broadband data networks and expanding their coverage footprint to areas where current technologies do not accommodate,” said Jack Mar, CEO of Star Solutions. “With iCell COMPAC IP-RAN customers can deploy basestations cost-effectively leveraging any form of backhaul technology, including satellite transmission for rural wireless networks, or even Internet backhaul for addressing broadband hotspot areas.”
The iCell COMPAC IP-RAN basestations are IP-67 rated, easy to transport and flexible in physical installation. Different mounting solutions are available to enable simple wall-mount, pole-mount or floor-mount configurations. Low power consumption enables these basestations to be deployed where commercial power is not viable and alternative energy sources must be used.
The CDMA2000® 1X model contains additional technology features which make the solution perfect for operators looking to address rural coverage requirements. This complete outdoor solution provides up to 10W of RF power output and is capable of supporting integrated BSC capabilities for mobile network integration, a SIP interface for integration with next generation network (NGN) softswitches or even stand-alone operation with an integrated wireless call manager.
The CDMA2000® EV-DO model is ideal for network operators with existing 1X deployments looking to deploy a broadband network overlay for broadband data services. In addition, iCell COMPAC basestations can be used to enable additional capacity in existing EV-DO networks by providing a broadband network underlay addressing heavy data usage areas with focused capacity where needed. Additionally, the COMPAC basestations can be deployed with Star Solutions' distributed RNC/PDSN to optimize data traffic offload.
Star Solutions' iCell COMPAC IP-RAN basestations are currently available for CDMA2000® 1X in 450MHz, 800MHz, and 1900MHz frequency bands. These new basestations are based on the All-IP Mobile Network architecture that Star Solutions has deployed in hundreds of systems in over 20 countries world-wide.
