Hess takes the reins from CopperLeaf founder Lynn Casey, who moves into the role of chief strategy officer. As CSO, Casey will continue to report directly to the board and focus on driving the company vision and market strategy.
"CopperLeaf has pioneered a new business planning process called asset investment planning (AIP), and our solutions provide value to asset-based businesses around the world," says Lynn Casey. "We are facing a massive growth opportunity and need the expertise of an execution master like Judi to take the next big step in our evolution. As the pioneer of AIP, it is very rewarding to see how far we've come and to anticipate how much further we will go with her on our team. I am excited to continue to focus on what I do best — vision and market strategy — while working side-by-side with Judi to make the most of this opportunity."
"I believe that investment planning for asset-intensive industries is a billion-dollar global market opportunity that is not being addressed adequately today," says Hess. "CopperLeaf has unique solutions and expertise that are already bringing great value to this market. Not only do we have the opportunity to create high growth in a very large market, but we are also delivering solutions that will help businesses make better investment planning decisions on a financial, environmental, and social basis. I find that very exciting."
Hess joined Burnaby-based Creo Inc. in 1995 from MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates, beginning as a program manager and rising to become president of Creo in 2002. She served in that position until Creo was acquired by Eastman Kodak Company in 2005.
At Kodak, Hess started as general manager, workflow and prepress equipment; and as vice-president of the graphic communications group. Two years later, her role was expanded to include management of a portfolio of software and start-up businesses. She was also appointed a corporate officer and vice-president of Eastman Kodak and the head of Kodak Canada.
Hess holds an honours bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
