Vancouver, BC, January 30, 2015--(T-Net)--HR Tech Group announced today that several individuals have joined the Steering Committee for 2015.
The new steering committee, with the help of HR leaders at important BC tech companies, is dedicating its efforts to advancing the strategic value of HR for tech companies. They are also committed to branding Vancouver as a tech center for excellence.
Three new members will join the Steering Committee this year: Agata Zasada,
Talent Manager at HootSuite Media Inc. will assume the Social Media portfolio for HR Tech Group. Zasada will focus on building the HR Tech Group connection with its growing membership online.
Elizabeth Barnard, also new this year, is the Director of Human Resources at D-Wave Systems, the first commercial quantum computing company. Barnard's previous experiences include Blast Radius, and Inimex Pharmaceuticals.
Elizabeth will join Nicole Silvestre, HR Manager at Electronic Arts, in the Membership & Communication portfolio. Nicole has over 10 years of global HR and Recruitment experiences, most recently in both the Vancouver and Seattle offices of Microsoft. The pair will specifically focus on new member engagement, and the popular Mentorship Program, connecting local HR tech practitioners.
“The BC tech sector continues to demonstrate tremendous growth. Our membership continues to climb, and by working together, our association is helping to build smart ‘people practices' for tech businesses to succeed”, says Allison Rutherford, Executive Director of the HR Tech Group. “Immigration and recruitment continue to be of top priority, since many companies have huge demands for talent. In order to create visibility and to brand Vancouver as a tech center of excellence, HR Tech Group participated in Destination Canada in Paris last year. Our members are working together to promote this brand internationally.”
Also new to the Steering Committee is Anna Sloan, HR Director at United Front Games; an independently owned video game studio specializing in making high quality games for various platforms. Anna has been active in the HR Tech Group for several years at companies such as Slant Six Games and Rocket Gaming, and she holds a Masters of Human Resources Management from the London School of Economics. Anna will focus on the successful ‘Special Interest Groups', which includes the popular Recruitment SIG, attended by tech recruiters from local companies who meet monthly to discuss recruitment strategies.
Daniel Berardo, Director of Human Resources for Absolute Software, is returning to the Steering Committee in his role of Programs & Events. Absolute Software is recognized as an employer of choice, and a leader in device security and management software. Working in partnership with Jan Laishley, Manager of HR at Ballard Power Systems, Daniel and Jan will continue to provide relevant workshop and networking events for 2015. The survey is produced by Towers Watson and is sold nationally, as it represents a sizeable population of tech workers. Managing the Compensation & Benefits portfolio, are Terry Hibbert, Director of HR at Talemetry, whose 20 years of HR and Financial Operations experiences include Intrinsyc Software and Macdonald Dettwiler. Terry and Natasha Gordon, Director of HR at Hostway Corporation, will manage both the salary survey and the association's group benefits buying plan with Morneau Shepell, which has provided significant benefits to member participants.
