Vancouver, BC, October 22, 2010--(T-Net)--ACD Systems International Inc., one of the world's leading developers of digital imaging software, today released the latest version of its Canvas application.
"Professionals in these industries need solutions to help them combine, annotate and enhance diverse sets of digital assets. They know how challenging this can be if a software program isn't flexible and accurate," said Mark Franklin, President of ACD Systems. "Canvas 12 integrates into any illustrator's workflow and provides unique tools that allow projects to be completed efficiently."
New features in Canvas 12 include:
3D View Tool: Users can place a 3D object into a Canvas document and visualize, annotate and embellish its many different views without having to redraw the views in two dimensions. View and enhance AutoCAD(R) DXF/DWG 3D object file formats by simply importing a 3D file. Canvas 12 integrates into AutoCAD 3D workflows.
Geometric Import and Export: Import any object's geometry and Canvas 12 automatically draws the object based on the specified coordinates. This makes it possible for users to easily create illustrations and graphics based on precise measurements. Specify and manipulate both the location and geometric dimensions of rectangles, ovals, lines, polygons, beziers and arcs. View an object's geometric properties in a spreadsheet-like grid. Import and export text file representations of objects.
Symbol Pen: This feature eliminates the time-consuming task of aligning symbols along a path. Canvas 12 automatically generates lines made up of shapes or symbols.
"As a scientist, I regularly need to create colorful technical illustrations that catch and hold the attention of diverse audiences and Canvas 12 is the best tool I have found to help me meet this challenging task. No similar package possesses the rich feature set available in Canvas 12," said Larry Felix, a scientist in Indian Springs, Ala.
The program also contains many other new capabilities, including the following:
Symbol Library
-- Make any vector object into a symbol.
-- Access sets in the Symbol Library or organize symbol sets by keyword and/or by re-categorizing symbols to match a unique workflow.
-- Utilize thousands of new Canvas symbols or access thousands of commonly used and highly specialized technical symbols.
Smart Vector Fill Tool
-- Fill visually enclosed regions created by object overlaps with just one click without needing to redraw regions as standalone objects.
Smart Join
-- Automatically rejoin segmented objects into one. Improved Flowchart Tools
-- Make data flowcharts with new speed and flexibility. -- Choose symbol size, shape, and "Smart Line" attributes, and click to place. Multi-Save
-- Export to many formats simultaneously with just one click, including BMP, CGM, GIF, JPG, PCX, PDF, PNG, TGA, and TIF. Pricing and Availability
Canvas 12 is available for $599.00 (USD). Registered customers of previous versions can upgrade for $299.50 (USD).
