In 2019, The WIMDI Speaker Series is inviting engaging speakers each month to give talks on topics that help women kill it at work.
Welcome to Talk 3 of 12 - Having Performance Conversations with Your Team
Most managers don't relish the part of the job where they have to have tough conversations with employees about their less than amazing performance. No one wants to hear they're not doing well, and delivering that news can feel like a scary walk into 'shoot the messenger' territory.
Helping your underperforming employees pull up their socks is a crucial leadership capability. It helps them contribute meaningfully and develop their career skills, while ensuring the rest of the team is well-supported.
This talk will focus on the nitty gritty of dealing with underperforming employees. We'll cover:
- The cost of ignoring underperformance on your team
- How to have performance-improving conversations (and what exactly to say)
- What to do when your employees just aren't getting better
- How to let someone go with dignity respect
The goal of this talk is to help you have the hard conversations with your people.
This talk is facilitated by Melissa Isaza, People & Culture Business Partner at Unbounce.
As an enthusiastic people and culture professional, you can find Melissa ushering in progressive people practices and deeply supporting and empowering the people she works with. When she's not at the office you can find her in the shoe department at Nordstrom or out exploring the Vancouver restaurant scene with her friends and family.
Doors open at 5:30 for mingling and socializing. The official start time is 6pm, with additional networking time to follow.
Hosted by Unbounce.
