In 2019, The WIMDI Speaker Series is inviting engaging speakers each month to give talks on topics that help women kill it at work.
Welcome to Talk 12 of 12 - Working with Your Strengths
With all of us aiming to be superstars who are massively successful at everything we achieve at work, it can be easy to get caught up in constant professional development and self-improvement projects aimed at reducing or eliminating our weaknesses. Just work on your self a little, the thinking goes, and work will get easier and more productive. Sounds great right? Sure is! But there's an even easier way...
This talk will focus on leveraging your strengths at work to maximize the impact you and your team create. We'll cover:
- Understanding the business case for working with your strengths
- Figuring out what you love so you can do work you actually enjoy
- Mapping your responsibilities at work by interest and ability
- How to have conversations with your team about utilizing your strengths effectively
The goal of this talk is to help you help you supercharge your career by clarifying the amazing value you offer your employers.
This talk will be given by Sarah Greenwood, Minerva BC's Women Leading The Way Program Facilitator.
Sarah has a passionate curiosity for learning and helping others learn. As a career strategist, facilitator, and curriculum designer, Sarah appreciates the deep connections and learning that can take place when people are willing to be vulnerable and challenge themselves.
Sarah facilitates leadership programs at Minerva, including Learning to Lead and Women Leading the Way. Sarah feels fortunate to be able to work with an organization that aligns with her values and allows her to play to her strengths.
When not working, Sarah can be found training for her next triathlon, walking her dog, or adventuring somewhere in the world on skis or by bike.
