Hope you've had a fantastic holiday and are off to a great New Year!
We're extremely excited to welcome a guest speaker to the table for this month's meetup. Audio Director Stephen Hodde will be on-hand to deliver a talk on the creative process of his work on Moss, a heartwarming VR puzzler / adventure title which released on PSVR and Windows last year. Moss has received a lot of well-deserved critical acclaim for its polish and sound, and Stephen's given a form of this talk at last year Game Developer's Conference.
**Heads up that this month's meetup is at the main theater at 420 Homer, NOT the Cafe!**
A short bio on Stephen:
"Stephen Hodde has been recording and transforming sounds since he was a boy. He tries to create experiences with audio that are unexpected, full of emotion, and that players love. He worked at Volition (Red Faction: Armageddon, Saints Row: The Third), Bungie (Destiny and its expansions Dark Below, House of Wolves, Taken King), and Amazon Game Studios before arriving at the VR game studio Polyarc (Moss)."
Speaking personally, Stephen is a rare human being who creates really memorable and emotional sound design. He never fails to inspire those he works with, and this is a great opportunity to fill your batteries full of wonder and creativity for 2020 and beyond.
-DETAILS- When: SAT January 25th, 6PM - 9PM (talk at 6:30, lots of time for Q&A and some catching up afterwards)
Where: VFS Main Theater, 420 Homer Street, Vancouver, BC
A group for Sound Designers to get together and nerd out on all things audio over beers (or waters & cokes, whatever your fancy). This isn't as much a networking group (though networking will be incidental) as much as it is a place to share knowledge an have a good time.
