Speed Mentoring: Your Gateway to the Power of Mentorship
WCT believes in the power of mentorship to build diversity in organizations and advance the careers of women and members of other under-represented groups. We've been running mentorship programs of all kinds for nearly 30 years.
On March 3, 2022, the Alberta Chapter of WCT will host a virtualSpeed Mentoring Event for women throughout Alberta.
Speed Mentoring offers a great pathway to get acquainted with the benefits of mentorship in a dynamic and engaging format. This event has been designed to provide mentees withthe expertise and wisdom of a highly diverse 20-person team of mentors who are ready and willing to addressspecific challenges mentees are currently facing at any career stage.
How does it work? Mentees will be asked to submit brief descriptions of a particular challenge they facein order to match with them with mentorsbest equipped to provide counsel on these topics. During the event, each mentee will participate in five, 15-minute rounds of conversations with 5 individually matched mentors to address the challenges.
The mentors are successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. Our roster is diverse, drawing from leaders in a number of sectors and professions with a wide range of professional experiences. It includes women and men from mid-career to senior leadership to C Suite executives.
Speed mentoring is a great way to discover what mentorship can do, without a lengthy time commitment. It provides impartial, confidential conversations in a small group setting (1 mentor and 2 mentees). It is a quick and easy way to discover the impact that having a mentor can have on careers and organizations.
WCT gratefully acknowledges funding support for these workshops. The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. Funding is provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada Alberta Job Fund.
