NetSIG is a Special Interest Group focused on computer networking. Building networks for Today and Tomorrow!
You may have heard of netcat, a cool tool to send/receive TCP/UDP packets from a host. Socat is the networking tool that does L3/L4 bi-directional transformations in the middle of the network.
On example is listening on an IPv6 address, and forwarding the L4 traffic to a IPv4-only device or visa-versa.
Bring a laptop or similar device and we'll explore socat in our "lab" network.
Afterword, we will go out for a beer/coffee.
