Too often training is done by throwing people into the "deep end" and hoping they'll learn through their struggle. Unfortunately, not only is this method inefficient, its results vary significantly. There is no short-cut to training. Training requires structure and planning for it to be highly effective. In this talk, Payam Moghaddam will share how Galvanize has rolled out a structured training program for their R&D department and what they've learnt from it.
Payam Moghaddam is the VP of R&D at Galvanize, where he is responsible for both the technology and execution of Galvanize's product roadmap with a ~150 global R&D team. He believes in applying Systems Thinking to management (e.g. training, processes, hiring, etc.), has years of experience developing on AWS, and is a former Rails developer now loving TypeScript. If you want to chat with a person in management that is still highly technical, Payam is your person.
