JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
The Data and Analytics Governance Lead guides and collaborates with the business on scope setting, policy development and rule refinement. The D&A governance lead manages the IT tools required for D&A governance. This role will interface with all other data and analytics governance roles, but mainly interacts directly with the business data stewards, enterprise architecture, system/product owners and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
As the visible face of data and analytics governance, this role has several key high-level responsibilities. They include:
* Supporting how Data and Analytics governance is developed as an organizational strength.
* Facilitating data and analytics governance discussions to determine scope and outcomes.
* Influencing the overall culture of the organization by showing the value and importance of D&A governance practices and supporting the execution of the program.
* Ensuring that guidelines, roles and responsibilities are defined, communicated, understood and followed by projects and operation teams.
* Collaborating with the business to capture the primary benchmarks and targets for which the D&A governance program will be held accountable and conducting current state assessment for improving data quality and adherence to policies.
* Taking feedback, removing bottlenecks and providing ongoing motivation to keep a sustained focus on the operational aspects of D&A governance.
* Mentoring data stewards in the range of stewardship activities as it relates to standard approach and best practices shared across business units.
* Maintaining the IT tools required to manage and automate the execution of D&A governance policies and rules.
* Assist with data architecture reviews and advise on data solutions that pertain to D&A governance (Data Catalogue, Data Quality, Business Glossary, metadata and master data management, Lineage).
* Collaborating with Enterprise architecture team to perform gap analysis and determine initiatives to build out roadmaps for the technical stack and process to optimize D&A governance.
* Lead a team of technical data product owners and data architects to scope, shape and deliver D&A management.
* Extending the Analytics team operating model to enforce and monitor D&A Governance policies set by the business.
Skills and Competencies
* Has extensive experience developing, recommending, and enforcing standards, policies, practices, and procedures relating to data governance.
* Proven track record of influencing behavior across business functions, as well as the corporate objectives and metrics, including how modern governance trends might apply.
* Strong communication skills used to influence all members of the enterprise to support and engage with the principles of data and analytics governance.
* Leadership abilities to inspire and guide all roles involved in the data and analytics governance program.
* Expertise in D&A governance technical solutions and standard processes.
* Data Modeling experience preferred.
* Ability to understand complex business problems, identify and interpret business needs and identify suitable technology solutions that align with the industry leading practices.
* Knowledge of DevOps.
* Experience working independently and efficiently under tight timelines
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* 9 years of relevant work experience (Data discovery, Data modeling, Data Quality, Master Data Management, data science or BI tools).
* Experience in Agile and SDLC delivery methodologies.
* Leadership experience in Data governance, analytics, or ownership of business processes

Flexible work model role definitions
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field - No option to work from home
Resident - Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid - May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote - Works from home 4+ days per week
