Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC's mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
In this position, you will provide technical support in the configuration, installation and maintenance of shared systems software/hardware platforms or ministry line of business applications and servers, including providing 2nd and 3rd Tier problem resolution to ministry users, customers and vendors.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Diploma or higher in computer science field or equivalent and some *related experience as noted below; OR
Certificate or program completion or some course work in computer science or a related field, and some *related experience; OR
Secondary School graduation or equivalent and two years of *related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- *Related experience includes one or more of the following:
- Experience in assessing customer requirements
- Experience in working with clients in providing troubleshooting and assistance
- Experience configuring, installing and maintaining shared systems software/hardware or line of business applications and/or servers
- Experience creating documents such as reference guides, on-line help information and glossaries
- Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience using HTML / CSS or JavaScript
- Experience with emergency management best practices including work experience in a command and control environment adhering to the Incident Command System (ICS) or similar structure
- Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations, including operational deployments across the province.
- Travel to locations throughout the province.
