Ballard's Supply Chain Group has an immediate opening for a Production Planner who will be supporting the Production Planning Team in achieving OTD targets for operations department. The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Product Development Teams. This position will be located at our Burnaby facility.
Responsibilities: - Plan production tasks and schedules according to customer orders
- Analyze back orders, current orders and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule the production operations
- Develop and review production plan
- Schedule usage of production materials to ensure optimal production levels
- Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage
- Monitor the execution of production plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion
- Escalate complex issues to cross functional team leads for resolution
- Produce reports based on findings and performance of production
- Manage deadlines based on project expectations
- Work with management in coordinating and planning production activities to improve runtime
- Investigate production problem, analyze root causes and provide solutions.
- Communicate production status to Managers on regular basis.
- Plan inventory management processes to avoid shortages and excesses.
- Adhere to company standards and production policies to meet company objectives.
- Analyze delays and interruptions and accordingly adjust production schedule to meet deadlines.
- Maintain reports for production planning activities
- Create, update and maintain planning process documentation
Qualifications: - Minimum of 2 to 3 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
- Relevant academic degree, certified or registered in entry level of SCMP/CPIM program, or equivalent combination
- Knowledge and experience in an MRP/ERP system
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to OTD targets and owning assigned targets
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, showing timely, accurate and succinct delivery of information
- Strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities
- Detail oriented, highly organized and able to work independently
