Ballard's Supply Chain Group has an immediate opening for a Production Planner who will be supporting the Production Planning Team in achieving OTD targets for key product lines in operations department. This role will be responsible for preparing detailed plans that are essential to the efficiency of the overall production operation.
The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Product Development Teams. This position will be located at our Burnaby facility.
Responsibilities: - Take ownership of the end-to-end material planning process including demand planning, capacity planning, historical usage analysis for assigned production line(s)
- Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple products
- Make decisions on issues and able to review MRP forecasts, work order schedules, complex workflows, find discrepancies and help in resolving them in an effective way
- Drive and control systems and processes through optimally utilizing the ERP system
- Develop plans that are reviewed and approved by the senior management team
- Must be able to support integration of innovative solutions that facilitates improvements in managing demand forecast and inventory strategies for complex product lines
- Initiate appropriate corrective actions as required
- Develop creative yet workable solutions to difficult problems.
- Coordinate with resources including production, materials, quality control and customer service to ensure OTD
- Manages changes to sales forecast and engineering changes to determine impact on customer deliveries
- Produce reports to track performance, finding bottleneck and implementing improvements on the production floor
- Work with management in coordinating and planning production activities to improve runtime
- Investigate production problem, analyze root causes, and provide solutions.
- Communicate production status to cross functional managers on regular basis.
- Adhere to company standards and production policies to meet company objectives.
- Create, update, and maintain planning process documentation
Qualifications: - 5-8 years of relevant experience in forecasting, production, demand/inventory planning and supply chain management in hi-tech manufacturing environment is a must
- Knowledge of multi-level bills of material structuring required
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- APICS certification is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of working with different MRP/ERP systems
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft office products such as Excel pivot tables and Macros required
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment
