Welder

Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to join its Product Development Team in Burnaby, BC. This is a 12-month temporary position. The successful candidate will work well with senior engineering staff, is capable of independent work and will contribute to the development of Ballard's fuel cell system products.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the build and verification of mechanical systems
• Building prototype mechanical systems, such as those containing mechanical fluid, structural, pressure, and sensing components

Requirements:

• Having or working towards a mechanical Red Seal certificate in welding
• 3-7 years' experience in a relevant industry
• Demonstrated capability for critical thinking
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment

Additional Consideration:

• Mechanical prototyping skills such as: pipe fitting and tube bending
• Mechanical prototyping skills with tools such as: drills, grinders, saws and wrenches
• Troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Knowledge of mechanical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations
• Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
• Experience with welding Stainless Steel
• Sub sea industry experience
