Title: Controls Engineer

Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Controls Engineer to join its Lab Equipment Design and Support Team in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will apply their strong technical skills to develop fuel cell and fuel cell component testing equipment for Ballard's state-of-the-art test lab.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and maintaining fuel cell and test station data acquisition and control software
• Assisting in design of new object-oriented software architectures
• Performing routine software deployment and upgrading tasks
• Assisting with data analysis and presentation
• Expanding and improving database solutions for fuel cell test station safety protocols and standard

Requirements:

• Degree in any Engineering discipline or Computer Science
• New graduated to 3 years experience

Key skills include:

• Experience programming in LabVIEW
• Controls engineering experience: design and tuning of PID and/or model-based control loops
• Experience with data acquisition hardware
• Data analysis using Excel and data presentation
• Broad programming experience: various application types in various languages (C/C++, C#, Java, etc)
• Experience with communication systems and protocols (TCP/IP, RS-232, CAN, etc.)
• Experience with software version control (eg. Git, SVN, etc)
• Object-oriented programming experience
• Strong oral and written communication ability
