Job Description

Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Pipe Fitter or Plumber to join its team in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will work well with senior engineering staff, is capable of independent work and will contribute to the development of Ballard's fuel cell system products.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the build and verification of mechanical systems
• Building mechanical systems, such as those containing mechanical fluid, structural, pressure, and sensing components
• Troubleshooting and failure analysis of mechanical components and systems

Requirements:

• Having or working towards a mechanical Red Seal certificate in pipe fitting or plumbing.
• 1-3 years' experience in a relevant industry
• Must have excellent mechanical prototyping skills such as: pipe fitting and tube bending
• Must have excellent mechanical prototyping skills with tools such as: drills, grinders, saws and wrenches
• Troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Knowledge of mechanical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations
• Demonstrated capability for critical thinking
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment

Additional Consideration:

• Ability to create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
• Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
• Experience with welding Stainless Steel
• Sub sea industry experience
• Experience designing, drawing and analyzing mechanical components
