Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to join its Lab Equipment Office (LEDs) Team in Burnaby, BC for a 12-month contract.
The successful candidate will work well with senior engineering staff, is capable of independent work and will contribute to the development of Ballard's fuel cell system products.
Responsibilities: - Assisting in the build and verification of mechanical systems
- Building prototype mechanical systems, such as those containing mechanical fluid, structural, pressure, and sensing components
Requirements: - Having or working towards a mechanical Red Seal certificate in welding
- 3-7 years' experience with stainless steel TIG welding
- Demonstrated capability for critical thinking
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
- Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
Additional Consideration: - Mechanical prototyping skills such as: pipe fitting and tube bending
- Mechanical prototyping skills with tools such as: drills, grinders, saws and wrenches
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
- Knowledge of mechanical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations
- Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
- Experience with welding Stainless Steel
- Sub sea industry experience
