Job Description

Ballard has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to join its Lab Equipment Office (LEDs) Team in Burnaby, BC for a 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will work well with senior engineering staff, is capable of independent work and will contribute to the development of Ballard's fuel cell system products.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the build and verification of mechanical systems
• Building prototype mechanical systems, such as those containing mechanical fluid, structural, pressure, and sensing components

Requirements:

• Having or working towards a mechanical Red Seal certificate in welding
• 3-7 years' experience with stainless steel TIG welding
• Demonstrated capability for critical thinking
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment

Additional Consideration:

• Mechanical prototyping skills such as: pipe fitting and tube bending
• Mechanical prototyping skills with tools such as: drills, grinders, saws and wrenches
• Troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Knowledge of mechanical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations
• Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
• Experience with welding Stainless Steel
• Sub sea industry experience
