Ballard has an exciting and immediate opportunity for an intermediate engineer / specialist (or EIT eligible) to join our Customer Care Engineering team. The successful candidate should have a tracking record of applying engineering principals to develop and implement new processes, document procedures, and help with troubleshooting complex systems.
Responsibilities: - Develop PM (preventative maintenance) and CM (corrective maintenance) processes for servicing motive products utilizing PFD and PFMEA tools
- Provide the content required to document instructional maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
- Specify, procure, commission, and qualify any special equipment or tools required for servicing products in the field and/or at service centers
- Provide advanced system level troubleshooting support to resolve field issues
- Work with Product Engineering and data scientists to develop and implement tools required for predictive maintenance and system level troubleshooting
- Executing exploratory data analysis to understand, verify, and monitor system level failure modes
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance system level troubleshooting process, data collection, data management, data analysis and data refinement cycles
- Identify areas for performance improvement within the customer care team
Requirements:
An ideal candidate will have 2+ years of related experience and many of the following: - Academic majors: Mechanical, mechatronic systems, or related engineering discipline
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, mechanical and integrated systems
- Familiar with engineering risk assessment tools and FMEA principals
- Self-disciplined and process-oriented personality
Key skills include: - Experience with 3D CAD software (Creo or SolidWorks)
- Hands on experience and familiar with shop tools
- Problem-solving skills and demonstrated capability for critical thinking
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Practical experience in writing computational codes (Ideally experience with Python, SQL and Power Bi)
- Experience with cloud computation is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
