Company Overview D3 Security provides the world's leading platform for security orchestration, automation, incident response, and investigation/case management. Today more than 1000 organizations - including over 100 of the Fortune 500 rely on D3 to build, automate and execute incident response plans, connect with third-party technologies and apply data-driven decisions across an enterprise-wide vision of incidents, investigations, and risk.
Product Design at D3 Security Product Design is in the infancy stage at D3 and is changing rapidly. For instance, within the past year, the product design team has established a design system to unify the experience across a vast product portfolio while the product development team formalized a separation between the front-end and a back-end team. UX advocacy will be a core skill because we aim to grow the understanding of UX across the entire organization.
We are looking to hire two product designers. One who will UX focused while the other will be UI focused.
Who You Are You see yourself as a design generalist who is interested in the whole design process. You may have an area where you excel at; however, you're capable of designing a product feature end-to-end. Here is a list (adapted from Molly Nix) of essential traits you have or aspire to have include:
- Deeply Strategic - You understand the importance of having a compelling long-term vision. More importantly, you're able to craft the shortest path to get to the north star. You're ready to align the needs of the users with the needs of the client, and D3's business objectives.
- Evidence-Informed - You derive your designs based on evidence and first principles versus only intuition. You're able to combine both quantitative and qualitative techniques to understand the context better.
- Good Storyteller - Ideas are nebulous at the earliest stages, and you can paint a vivid vision while describing the problems that need to be solved accurately. Your stories are relatable, and others able to experience the pain points you have discovered without having to have been part of the user research.
- Systems Thinker - Compelling stories are often simple to understand and are relatable. However, you understand that products are complex and messy. As such, you're able to look beyond the stories you're told and understand the messy details underneath. For example, you're comfortable providing designs that'll have to support clients with a diverse set of industry backgrounds. You propose courageous changes while being respectful of the existing workflows because you think systemically.
- Highly Collaborative - You understand that design doesn't end at the design tool (we use Figma). Instead, it's the starting point of a collaborative process. You're not afraid to show your incomplete work to get a round of feedback from your fellow designers, PM/BAs, and engineers. You value feedback from diverse viewpoints as early as possible because you know it will help you make a more informed decision.
- Incredibly Adaptive - You're entrepreneurial, resourceful, and proactive. You understand startups are time-bounded, so you're not tied to a specific way of completing a task. Instead, you have a set of tools and techniques that you can choose from to best solve the problem and constraints at hand.
