Job Description
The Developers will:
- Act as developers for a suite of applications that are supported by an Application Maintenance Team;
- Be actively involved with the team in maintaining key applications, solving support incidents, analyzing problems, understand service requests, developing software enhancements using the Magik programming language, and performing regular maintenance activities;
- Be required, at times, to liaise with the client representatives in response to support issues or refinement of detailed enhancement requirements;
- Be required to gain a good understanding of the applications they represent, own support issues through to resolution, manage multiple tasks involving support requests, application enhancements and scheduled maintenance duties;
- Be able to troubleshoot a program or utility code to pinpoint where problems may lie, and identify the changes that need to be made and if required can rewrite this code to alleviate the problem;
- Meet the quality standards for delivering services and deliverables including coding and documentation;
- Need to work well in a team environment;
- Be responsive and timely in delivering service to the client;
- Participate in providing 24x7 on-call support on a scheduled basis with other team members.
Mandatory requirements
- 5 years' experience in system development;
- Demonstrated work experience with all of the following technologies:
- GE Smallworld
- Magik development
- Oracle
- Version Managed Data Store (VMDS)
- Demonstrated work experience within an enterprise software support environment involving broad complex business requirements;
- Demonstrated work experience within an enterprise software development lifecycle involving a thorough and regularly scheduled delivery plans;
- Good English language communication skills;
- Positive, flexible, open-minded approach towards work assignments;
- Good interpersonal skills with a natural ability to work with and support colleagues;
- Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision, and work well under pressure;
- Good analytical, troubleshooting, debugging skills and proven ability to discern critical from minor problems;
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desirable Skills
- GIS experience;
- Experience supporting applications for an electrical utility organization;
- Working experience on Visual Basic and Java;
- ITIL v3 Foundation Certification.
