Opportunity

Reporting to SVP Prototype Deployment the Director FDP facility & BOP design will Lead an internal engineering team and work directly with external partners to oversee the development, design, delivery and commissioning of ancillary systems in a new industrial facility located in either Canada, USA or the United Kingdom. As a member of the FDP team, the candidate will work as part of the team in the development of General Fusion's Fusion Demonstration Plant

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead an internal engineering team to develop requirements and oversee designs of plant ancillary system:
  • Mechanical Systems (HVAC, Craning, Pneumatic)
  • Electrical Systems (Power distribution, Instruments & Controls, IT)
  • Safety, Security, Fire Detection & Suppression systems
• Coordinate with external engineers, vendors, and contractors throughout the life cycle of the project
• Oversee and conduct design reviews, status reports
• Lead and encourage employees' development of direct reports

Qualifications:

Required:

Engineering degree or equivalent, with Professional Engineer designation
Design knowledge of building standards, codes, and regulations for industrial facilities
Project and/or Construction Management experience

Preferred:

Experience working on projects in Canada, US and the UK
Familiar with international codes and standards for facility design
10-15 years of experience + right mix of skills
Be able to deliver the design and implementation of the ancillary systems on schedule, budget and scope while working with internal GF teams and external partners

The work involved in this project combines a wide range of skill sets, and the development / deployment of First of a kind, fusion demonstration plant (FDP) with many custom, highly integrated, state of the art systems. General Fusion seeks individuals who are self-motivated, have good communication skills and are comfortable with creative problem solving independently and within a group.
