Position Summary
Interior Health is looking for a permanent full time Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics Services team.
** The worksite location for this position is flexible within the Interior Health Region.
About the Role / What will the person work on?
The Data Engineer provides expertise in the building, monitoring, and maintenance of data products. Collaborates with data stakeholders, ensures data governance, and enables report writers. Maintains and renovates data products including supporting solutions, services, systems, and infrastructure adapting security, performance, and cost to meet changing business needs. Stays current with technical trends and best practices to maintain and promote data and analytics expertise.
Some typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Design, architecture and development of the data engineering patterns and solutions.
- Working closely with fellow data platform engineers and architects to design and model solutions for the business.
- Modernizing data platforms and implementing frameworks to establish better standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate with experience with the cloud technology like Microsoft Azure, Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, building and maintaining data pipelines, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), DevOps or Git.
Someone who has a passion for managing different data platforms. Ideally they have experience in data management in healthcare.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, Masters preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of industry experience in Software Development, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
- SQL coding skills.
- Source controls best practices.
- Familiarity with the underlying server operating systems, networks, active directory, command line, and automation.
- Cloud or related technical certifications is an asset.
- Course work in a health-related area or experience working in the healthcare field is an asset.

Comments
Starting salary is approximately from 77K to 97K and will be based on education, training and experience.
