The Position
We're on the hunt for a Configuration Management (CM) Technician to join our Geointelligence Configuration and Data Management (CADM) team at our Richmond office.
The CM Technician reports to the Senior Operations Manager and is responsible for defining and implementing configuration management principles to large scale, complex, and mission critical systems.
Responsibilities: - Implement configuration management policies and procedures for system software and hardware deliverables.
- Perform administration and user support to software code libraries and tools including JIRA, GIT, GITLAB, Subversion, or Clearcase. This will include new system installations, upgrades, configuring the tools, setting up forms and workflows, and generating software releases for customer deliverables.
- Perform administration and user support for document configuration management systems including Agile and Filehold. This will include new system installations, upgrades, patching, and configuring the tools to support documentation workflows.
- Work with engineers, managers, and subject matter experts to drive and build configuration management strategies for software development. Provide effective configuration management solutions to support project development and integration teams.
- Use established procedures to assign unique identifiers to all project deliverables including software, documentation, and hardware items.
- Use existing procedures to establish and manage the change control process for software development within the software libraries & tools, and formal changes to established baselines through the change control board (CCB).
- Maintain configuration status records of all project deliverables at varying levels of scale: from a small subsystem module to large complex systems. Produce system configuration status reports as required.
- Audit all project deliverables against configuration management records for accuracy prior to system delivery to the end customer.
- Monitor configuration management (CM) activities of subcontractor organizations for compliance with project CM requirements and provide support when required.
- Support Quality Assurance process audits of the configuration management function.
Requirements: - BCIT Technologist or equivalent engineering diploma. CMII or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
- Mature individual with a sound working knowledge of hardware/software engineering practices. Familiarity with software CM tools including GIT, GITLAB, JIRA, Clearcase, Subversion, AGILE, Filehold, or Sharepoint systems.
- Familiarity with relevant CM Standards (MIL-STD-973, IEEE-488, ISO 10007). Prior experience working within a certified quality management system (e.g. ISO 9001) is preferred.
- Familiarity with CM change processes for software, drawings, documentation, and hardware.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the software, CM, or hardware/system engineering field.
- Experience working in both Windows and Linux operating systems and environments.
- Experience in CM/Engineering with the Government, Military, or Aerospace industry would be highly desirable.
- Experience using software and system configuration management tools would be an asset.
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
