The Role:

The Platform Engineering Specialist is a core member of the project team and supports a variety of critical activities related to Hardware, Operating Systems, and related computing support for key projects.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with project teams to identify project specific IT support needs.
• Provide In-Service Support hardware (HW) repairs for airborne and lab equipment.
• Conduct incoming HW inspections, diagnosis, repair, testing, formal testing with QA witness, test report generation, shipment of equipment.
• Maintain project workstations, servers, and specialized development equipment (including spares).
• HW activities will include VME board replacements, servers & workstation setup, cabling interconnections and specialized HW equipment setup.
• Perform IT Systems Administration (Windows, Linux, VxWorks)
  • Many Windows versions.
  • Configuration of VxWorks boards (flash) and operating system configuration
  • Interacting with MDA IT to workaround the many layers of MDA IT security protocols to ensure project machines are "allowed" onto MDA's corporate networks.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or similar relevant degree or combination of education and experience
• 4+ years experience in HW maintenance and IT admin support.
• Willingness to learn and to be trained on the job

Desirable:

• Experience working on complex projects, supporting project teams is an asset.

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance initially at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP). Eventually, successful candidate must obtain and hold security clearance at the Secret/NATO Secret level.
