Orbital Research was founded in Burnaby, Canada, in 2003. Our team has extensive experience engineering and customizing high end, high performance frequency converters and satellite communications components for professional use. Orbital Research products - LNBs, BDCs, oscillators and more - perform reliably anywhere, even in extreme temperatures and conditions.
We provide standard and custom SATCOM equipment to customers in military, aeronautical, earth observation, satellite news gathering (SNG), SATCOM-on-the-move (SOTM) and other satellite industries. And because our frequency converters and components are professionally engineered, hand-tuned and individually tested, we can guarantee high performance.
We currently have an opening for an experienced PROJECT ENGINEER, AEROSPACE at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will be part of the Engineering team responsible for our frequency converter products used in satellite communications systems.
Applicants must be eligible for or already registered with EGBC and must pass a government security screening and be required to meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled goods requiring a security clearance.
Job Summary:
- Manage multiple related projects and related operations.
- Establish best practices in engineering domains related to aerospace.
- Conduct technical reviews.
- Define and manage project scope, schedule and budget.
- Track and report on project progress.
- Acquire, allocate and manage resources.
- Organize meetings including sponsor and customer engagement sessions.
- Conduct project and design quality reviews.
- Seek out and execute process improvements, promulgate new tools and techniques as appropriate.
- Keep current with the project management and engineering best practices.
MANDATORY SKILLS
- Experience with design of aerospace mechanical systems
- Aerospace engineering experience in hardware and software development, testing, commissioning, and deployment
- Well versed in space radiation environments and mitigation techniques
- Deep understanding of cooling systems for space environments
- Experience as a systems engineer with aerospace designs
- A degree and advanced experience in Aerospace Engineering
- Proficiency in project management practices, techniques, and tools
- Demonstrated communication skills with both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Vendor management and contract administration experience.
- Experience leading new product introduction and configuration management
- Knowledge of business development and sales cycles.
- Must have P. Eng designation and Masters degree

Salary Range:
- $80,000 - $120,000 CAD per year
