Job Summary
We have an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A, Network Engineering & Operations to join our Finance team in our Richmond, BC headquarters. In this role, you will provide analytical support to key decision makers, with a focus on connectivity services and the costs associated with running the network and infrastructure for the connectivity business. You will be responsible for compiling standard reports for regular reporting periods as well as analysis and modeling for special projects and new initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support financial reporting for FP&A team to support the services business, including preparation of annual budget, period forecasts and ongoing operations reports
- Provide assistance and training for department heads to complete their forecast and budgets
- Prepare month-end schedules and analysis reports for month end operations reviews
- Analyze profitability- report revenue, cost of service, gross margin, and operating costs by customer, service offer, operators and quarterly variances to Plan
- Explain variances to management, observe trends and uncover potential gaps/opportunities
- Liaise with other business units' controllers to ensure proper allocation of cross business unit charges
- Develop and track KPIs for the business units to help the teams measure their performance
- Develop, analyze, prepare and/or review complex financial analysis such as: service 5 Year long term plan including service revenue and cost modelling and full P&L projection, hardware + service bundle management (preparation of capitalization schedules) etc.
- Working with team members in other departments to achieve a comprehensive understanding of business and operational information needs and translating to specific data requirements
- Support an environment of continuous improvement by enhancing, modifying or eliminating current processes to increase efficiency and strengthen controls
- Some minimal global travel may be required when safe
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- Post-secondary degree, Finance or Accounting Specialization (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior business analyst role within Finance and/or Corporate development
- Proven track record of performing analysis in the Telecommunication industry (MNO, MVNO) considered an asset
- Experience in Business Intelligence (BI) tools; implementation of BI tool will be considered an asset
- Excellent financial modeling skills
- Independent and can work with minimal supervision, be able to develop key concepts and execute
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Proven focus on customer/stakeholder service and service delivery
- Excellent communication (fluent in English), presentation, and interpersonal skills - able to work closely with internal/external team members at a senior level
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
- Ability to work in a team environment and/or as an individual contributor
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to influence outcomes in a multi-disciplined team environment
- Good business curiosity, the ability to identify strategic issues and think critically
- High proficiency with Excel and working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience with SQL or Qlik an asset
