Job Summary
We have an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in our Richmond, BC headquarters. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Manager, Accounting on various accounting matters, including global inventory, product warranty liability as well as supporting the month-end closing process for various subsidiaries. As a key member of the Corporate Accounting Team, you will provide advice and support on financial and accounting issues, and report on, interpret and communicate operating results.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the accounting and valuation of the Company's global inventory, including related purchase commitments and reserves. Determine the monthly inventory accruals based on in-transit shipments or supplier invoices. Prepare and provide various inventory reports to stakeholders as and when required. Assist in the design and implementation of new accounting workflows related to inventory programs.
- Facilitate the review of product revenue cutoff on a quarterly basis.
- Provide general accounting support on one or more of the Company's subsidiaries, including liaising with contractors or external accounting firms to complete the statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with the accounting of the Company's hardware warranty reserves, including working with the Customer Quality team to validate the assumptions used in the warranty provision calculation.
- Assist in determining carrier accruals and other account balances as required.
- As required, participate as a team member on various special projects requiring financial accounting, financial analysis and process design skills.
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- Professional CPA designation with 2-3 years of post-designation experience in a public company
- Proficiency in accounting standards, U.S. GAAP preferred
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to juggle multiple assignments and effectivity prioritize and meet deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including use of Pivot tables
Desired Education, Experience & Competencies
- Experience with JD Edwards would be an asset
- Experience with inventory (cost) accounting
- Understand internal controls, SOX and experience working with external auditors
