About the Role
In this role you will work closely with stakeholders, and cross functional product teams of software, firmware, embedded systems, RF engineers, front end and back-end developers. to deliver our high quality, scalable products and solutions deployed across a challenging rural footprint.
You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best product with most efficient use of resources and technologies.
You will lead complex multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted projects that include internal and external product development resources. You will use your experience with outsourced projects to accelerate the product delivery roadmap while ensuring tight integration and ownership from the core technology team.
You will leverage your deep technology, process and domain experience in hardware and systems design along with your strong project management skills and disciplined, structured approach to ensure the delivery of value and the desired project outcomes within scope, time, budget and quality.
You will plan requirements with external customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers
You will work with all the stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects by meeting project milestones.
You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and encourage risk taking behavior to maximize business benefit.
Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities.
You should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, and continuous process improvement.
You will coach project team members and other engineers in enhancing project management skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BSc. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Design Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in Project Management or related field
- PMP certification is an asset
- PEng certification is an asset
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in project management leveraging Agile methodologies
- Minimum of 5 years working in a embedded systems environment, hardware engineering and new product development
- Demonstrated team player. Capability to manage and motivate project teams
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills: Ability to influence stakeholders, overcome obstacles and lead project teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence and achieve buy-in on proposed plans
- Strong facilitation skills
- High energy, positive individual loving operational challenges
- Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans
- Change oriented - actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
- Prior experience as a Scrum Master and experience applying Agile methodologies in a hardware development ecosystem. Certified Scrum Master designation is an asset
- Knowledge and expertise in Electricity Transmission, Distribution & Industrial markets is an asset
- Experience with contract drafting and SOW review - managing both commercial and legal terms within a customer agreement
