At Westport Fuel Systems, we are driving innovation to power a cleaner tomorrow. We are inventors, engineers, manufacturers and suppliers of advanced clean fuel systems and components that can change the way the world moves. Our products and technologies deliver performance, fuel efficiency and environmental benefits to address the challenges of global climate change and urban air quality. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, we serve our customers in more than 70 countries with leading global transportation brands.
Powerful trends in greenhouse gas ("GHG") emission reduction regulations have created a compelling opportunity for gaseous-fuel product solutions powered by natural gas, propane, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen. With our strategic partners, we are turning our business plan into reality. We share a common objective: to create clean transportation solutions that meet existing and future emissions regulations and targets for GHG reduction.
Overview
The Analysis Engineer is responsible for supporting product development with analytical verification of the fuel supply system, fuel storage and peripheral components. This position's purpose is to improve product reliability and durability while accelerating development costs by doing paper/numerical studies ahead of time on several iteration of designs before hardware is acquired.
Position Responsibilities
Work with the product engineering team and support the development of innovative components within a broad range of systems from cryogenic (LNG) high and low pressure liquid/gas storage to on-engine fuel systems by driving the following analysis activities:
- Create models for FEA, CFD or complex Multiphysics systems level.
- Perform calculations in thermodynamics, heat transfer, kinematics, Multiphysics, fluid dynamics and structural to support boundary conditions and results.
- Detail models for structural (linear and non-linear), fatigue, thermal and vibration analysis.
- Detail reports and release in PDM all modeling and simulation results.
- Create and support detailed component level mathematical models of cryogenic tanks, pumps, injectors, and other components of the vehicle fuel supply systems.
- Provide feedback to designers for product improvement and cost reduction.
- Provide input to product architecture decisions for new applications.
- Support the development of new products with completion of the analysis portion in verification plans.
- Participate in vehicle integration design decision by providing modeling feedback.
- Participate in Root Cause failure investigations of current products.
Health & Safety responsibilities
- Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
