Overview
Are you a professional accountant in the corporate finance field with experience building strong relations and financial management in a complex, corporate environment?
We have an opportunity for a manager, financial services to provide leadership and advice to a team responsible for managing the financial activities of their client group. Your team will develop and assist in implementing your clients' business plans and budget processes to support their strategic objectives.
This is a hybrid role that will primarily work from home and occasionally attend our Richmond office.
What you'll do
As the Manager, Financial Services you will:
- Lead your financial services team to ensure effective delivery of services to your allocated departments by promoting a client-focused and service-oriented approach
- Contribute to the development of your client group's short- and long-term financial strategic plans by providing your financial accounting expertise to the decision-making and reporting process
- Provide consultation, financial assistance and support to senior executives and department managers on the accounting and budget process
- Participate as a member of your client group's management team in policy development and business planning, and work closely with other divisional managers to collaborate on planning, program development, or operational activities
- Through analysis and input from peers and operating management, assess the usefulness and effectiveness of financial processes
- Manage departmental financial resources including planning, developing, and administering annual operating budget, monitoring ongoing financial reporting, investigating variances and taking necessary corrective action

- Facilitate and encourage cooperation between diverse operational groups and skills sets, while utilizing your creative problem-solving skills
- Implement quality initiatives for improvement, by using knowledge of the changing environment, and by identifying potential challenges and opportunities
- Create a climate that encourages and supports the development and success of individuals on your team, enabling them to contribute to the team and reach their maximum potential
- Effectively present complex and highly technical financial topics and concepts to a variety of audiences
- Be flexible to work extra hours as required for quarterly reporting deadlines, budget planning, and audit committee meetings
Your experience and educational background:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA) and/or a master's degree in business administration
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience which includes at least five years of experience in a financial management role in a complex corporate environment
- A minimum of five years of experience supervising staff
- Knowledge and experience with financial systems (PeopleSoft) an asset
