An expanding market for these products exists in utility, commercial, industrial, microgrid and similar applications. Overview:
We are looking for an Electrical Test Technologist to help support test station development in R&D. Reporting to Manager, Hardware and Controls, the successful candidate will work with a cross-functional development group to support test station development for our R&D teams at both our Vancouver and Richmond locations. Also, the ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting, self-motivation, reliability and ownership are all crucial traits that are important to this role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop test stands based on cross-functional requirements
- Facilitate new test system builds
- Maintain technical drawings for test stands
- Communicate designs to reviewers and system engineers
- Develop, document and execute test plans
- Troubleshoot and debug test system hardware and software
- Set up instrumentation for test measurement equipment
- Test configured equipment to ensure basic operation
- Assemble wire harnesses and install sensors and actuators
- Conduct quality inspections on products and parts
- Assist engineering team in assembling and testing prototype electrical assemblies
- Willingness to work at both the Vancouver and Richmond locations, as needed
- May be required to occasionally work at an off-site location
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-year diploma in Electrical Engineering
- 2 years of experience in a R&D environment working on electrical and electronics preferred
- Strong fundamental knowledge of digital and analog circuitry
- Experience with schematic capture software such as AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience with basic test equipment such as Oscilloscope, DDM and data acquisitions
- Willingness to work around hazardous chemicals
- Able to lift 50 pounds
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience developing test benches including design layout and construction
- Experience with implementing PLC systems/ LabView
- Lab experience testing grid connected power supplies or battery equipment
- Ability to demonstrate good engineering design process
- Ability to read, understand and create electrical schematics
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Experience with regulatory testing of equipment to UL or CSA safety standards
