An expanding market for these products exists in utility, commercial, industrial, microgrid and similar applications. Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Development Team. Reporting to the Associate VP Engineering, the successful candidate will take our prototype modules and transform them into robust manufacturable assemblies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and designers to cohesively & enthusiastically design complex assemblies that work.
- Mentor earlier career colleagues in engineering principles and practice.
- Work with subsystem and component teams to transform prototypes into manufacturable and robust components and assemblies.
- Work with contract manufacturers to help transition into volume manufacturing of our product
- Work with manufacturing team to improve the manufacturability and assembly of our modules
- Define and coordinate verification and validation testing of components and modules
- Prepare 3D CAD models and engineering drawings according to ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards
- Prepare detailed specifications for components and assemblies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of product development
- Extensive experience in DFX of stacked assemblies
- Experience designing of sealed assemblies
- Demonstrated experience managing the development of products that are complex assemblies
- Demonstrated ability to do cost reduction of prototypes
- Demonstrated effective component definition and specification for volume production
- Experience outsourcing components and able to work with custom component suppliers to quickly achieve quality products
- Extensive experience in injection molding, extrusion, stamping, casting, and other volume manufacturing methods
- Experience implementing and managing functional and design verification and validation test programs
- Demonstrated the ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a short time
- Demonstrated leadership to manage multiple engineers to achieve project goals
- Capable of planning and budgeting for complex projects
- Experience working in an R&D environment and has demonstrated the use of effective experimentation to solve problems
- Demonstrated effective use of rapid prototyping and scaled functional testing for concept validation
- Experience with engineering change control
- Demonstrated first principles and objective oriented thinking
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Inventor
- Must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience designing for fuel cells or batteries
- Experience using CFD and FEA tools
- Experience designing for corrosive environments
- Experience conducting thermal analysis of components and assemblies
