Orbital Research was founded in Burnaby, Canada, in 2003. Our team has extensive experience engineering and customizing high end, high performance frequency converters and satellite communications components for professional use. Orbital Research products - LNBs, BDCs, oscillators and more - perform reliably anywhere, even in extreme temperatures and conditions.
We provide standard and custom SATCOM equipment to customers in military, aeronautical, earth observation, satellite news gathering (SNG), SATCOM-on-the-move (SOTM) and other satellite industries. And because our frequency converters and components are professionally engineered, hand-tuned and individually tested, we can guarantee high performance.
We currently have an opening for an experienced PRODUCT ENGINEER at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will play a vital role in developing, testing, and optimizing these products, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Applicants must be eligible for registration with EGBC, pass a government security screening, and meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled goods requiring a security clearance.
Job Summary:
- Collaborate with the design team to provide engineering insights during the concept phase of product development.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to gather customer and industry requirements and synthesize product development specifications.
- Develop and implement product prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate design concepts and functionalities.
- Conduct thorough testing and analysis of prototypes, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Design and oversee the development of production processes, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to oversee the transition from prototype to mass production, resolving any engineering challenges that arise.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain product quality standards, performing rigorous testing and inspections.
- Participate in design reviews, offering technical expertise and suggestions for enhancing product performance and manufacturability.
- Continuously monitor and analyze product performance post-launch, identifying opportunities for refinement and enhancement.
MANDATORY SKILLS
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in product engineering or related roles within the wireless or RF industry
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Altium, etc.) for design and prototyping
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and technologies
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain management
- Must have P. Eng designation.

Salary Range:
- $60,000 - $90,000 CAD per year
